A Tesla rechargeable battery has been installed at the centre

Thanks to Funding from Office for Recreation and Sport Active Club Program Round 47 Facilities, we have installed a Tesla Powerwall 2.

Powerwall is a rechargeable battery system that stores energy from our existing solar panels and makes it available on demand. It can power our centre during the evening when Gymnastics, Calisthenics, Judo & Ju-Jitsu sessions operate or back up in the event of a power outage.

The project will enable the Centre to become independent from the grid and by using sustainable energy reduce our ‘ecological footprint’ even more.

The project will allow us reduce our electricity usage even further. The Centre will reduce their electricity usage, and plans to use power on an evening when dark from our own battery stored.

As part of our Sustainability Action Plan we had 80 solar panels installed in October 2016.
